Filming begins on romantic comedy drama LOVE LIFE (working title),as ROB JAMES COLLIER and ANDREA LOWE are cast in leading roles.
Principal photography is underway for the newly commissioned three-part comedy drama LOVE LIFE written by Bill Gallagher (Lark Rise to Candleford, The Prisoner) and produced by Red Production Company (Scott & Bailey, Exile) for ITV1.
Rob James Collier (Downton Abbey, Coronation Street) and Andrea Lowe (DCI Banks) will star in this warm, comic tale of love, romance and family.
A year ago, faced with pressure from his girlfriend Lucy (Lowe) to settle down, Joe (Collier) took off for one more jaunt around the world. Now he’s back. When he runs into Lucy on a night out and learns she’s married AND pregnant, it’s a shattering blow. He’s made a terrible mistake.
Only, Lucy’s not married. She lied to Joe. She’s living with her father, Will (Gregor Fisher) – a man whose flirtation with debt is about to blossom into a full-on romance, and bring crisis into Lucy’s life at just the wrong time.
Lucy refuses to say who the father of her baby is. Joe can’t let it lie and forces the truth out of Will. It was Lucy’s ex-boss, Dominic (Alexander Armstrong).
Dominic is married to the increasingly prickly Penny (Sophie Thompson), and they’ve been trying to have a child. For years. Lucy and Penny used to be close, so Lucy doesn’t want anyone to know who fathered her child.
Lonely and feeling unloved because of Penny’s obsession with having a baby, Dominic did one silly thing. He had a one night stand with Lucy. Well, in truth, it was a one month stand. He doesn’t know that Lucy is pregnant. Until Joe tells him.
So, this is the story of four people – and one baby. Funny, romantic, warm and knotty, this is the tale of how good people come to terms with the trials of love.

Love Life has been commissioned by Director of Drama Commissioning Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes, Controller of Drama Commissioning, and is executive produced for ITV by Nicola Shindler at Red Production Company.
