Conviction
by Bill Gallagher 6 x 60' for BBC3 and BBC1.
Written by Bill Gallagher (Clocking Off) 'Conviction' is a provocative and complex story of a murder investigation that is at times disturbing and at others darkly humorous. Driven by a daring visual style, the drama unfolds via bold storytelling devices.
When a 12 year old girl is murdered, her local community clamour for revenge and the distinction between right and wrong becomes blurred as those involved in the investigation take ever more dangerous steps in their efforts to bring it to a conclusion. When two of them take things too far, the scene is set for a dark and pacy series in which the police are never whiter-than-white custodians of moral and legal integrity and there are no cosy resolutions.
'Conviction' stars William Ash and Nicholas Gleaves as brothers and CID team-mate Chrissie and Ray, Zoe Henry as their lawyer sister Beth and David Warner as Lenny, their father, a retired cop. Ian Puleston-Davies as Joe, Reece Dinsdale as Robert and Laura Fraser as Lucy complete the CID team around which Conviction revolves.
