Having it Off

By ANTONY COTTON and SARAH MOFFETT

Having it Off was transmitted on Thursday, 4th July at 11.00 pm on BBC Choice

GUY LA TROUSSE is the quick witted, short tempered, fast footed and limp wristed manager of a having itdead end hair salon in Eccles. GUY dreams of being a television personality but unfortunately he doesn't have the personality for television. He concocts schemes to bring the glamorous and trendy crowd through his doors. But he is so rude to his customers, it's not surprising that each week his hopes are dashed and his regular blue rinse brigade remain the only clientele.

APRIL is GUY's nemesis. She is the salon owner's wife and spends most of her time being pampered in the salon. She also uses it as a meeting place for her many lovers. Her voracious sexual appetite and ridiculous clothes are the object of GUY's derision but he knows that without her he can't survive and she knows that without him she would be extremely bored. They need each other and they hate each other. This relationship is central as, over the course of the 6 episodes we discover that they thrive off the attention they give each other and would be miserable without it.

GUY's colleagues are JOLENE, the Dolly Parton loving beautician, DAVID the gorgeous student, PHILLIPPA, GUY's perennially single best friend and KYLIE the stupid floor sweeper. This odd bunch of misfits are loveable and entirely recognisable as people who want what everyone in the world wants - love, success and good friendships.

This is a funny, dirty, camp comedy. There are jokes about the famous, the rich, the fat, the thin, the beautiful and the ugly. The banter between GUY, JOLENE and their customers is invariably filthy and full of sexual innuendo. It is a no holds barred sitcom which laughs at and celebrates anything or anyone unusual or different in society.

Having It Off is written by and stars Antony Cotton and Sarah Moffett as GUY and JOLENE with Frances Barber (Love In A Cold Climate, Real Women) playing APRIL. The show is produced by Matthew Bird (Anna Karenina, The Lakes) and directed by John Reardon (Agony, The Gentle Touch).
