John Wilson has interviewed Lenny Henry, writer of the upcoming Danny and The Human Zoo, for Front Row on BBC Radio 4.
The two discuss Lenny’s increasing amount of acting work, as well as Lenny’s cathartic experiences playing a version of his own father in the semi-autobiographical Danny and the Human Zoo, due to be broadcast on BBC One later this year. Newcomer Kascion Franklin plays Danny, a teenage boy growing up in 1970s Dudley who possesses a talent for uncanny impressions… much like the real life Lenny Henry.
“It’s been great, because I get to walk to work with my 15 year old self. I get to put my arm around myself as a 15 year old boy. I get to give myself advice I wish my dad had done.”
